Why This Fellowship
Grow With Us (GWU) is an entrepreneurial fellowship built on the foundation
of economic equity and justice that focuses on equipping young African girls with necessary skills required to start and run their own enterprises. Since its
inception in 2018, the fellowship has had 24 Fellows from 17 African
countries who have successfully gone through the 12 Month online remote
program.
In 2021, we introduced the Fellowship to Francophone Africa so as not to
leave out any part of the continent.
The curriculum offered through various industry experts who serve as
Mentors covers various subject matters like Fundraising, Finances as an
entrepreneur, Marketing, day to day business operations management,
Marketing with a focus on digital strategy and so much more.
Our mission is to avail African women with all the resources they need to
access economic power and ultimately, financial freedom all over the African
continent.
Our Bootcamp
Since our Fellowship program is primarily held online, at the end we host a Bootcamp where the Fellows get to meet each other and their Mentors. In
2021 we held our first 3 Day Bootcamp in Zambia, Chaminuka. During the 3
days the Fellows got to learn from in person our Mentors in attendance on
various topics like Running a Business with Feminist Ideals, Understanding
your target Market, Pitching your business idea to potential investors among others. The Fellows got to learn from and with each other while also getting a
glimpse of the state of entrepreneurship in the African continent. At the end of
the Fellowship they got to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges for a chance to
win a grant from the organization.
We understand that it is not enough to teach women but giving them funds in
the form of grants is also a game changer. Sedinam Ameku was the first
recipient of this grant.
