Different people have different perspectives when it comes to a word Refugee” they are known as the most vulnerable, uncapable, uneducated, etc.. but at Choose Yourself, we believe that leaving your home due to different inevitable reasons doesn’t take away your humanity, skills & knowledge and you can always create another home where you feel more safer. Choose Yourself in partnership with Kisoboka Africa have started these workshops in Nakivale Settlement and are training ten women from different nationalities since March, 2021 and this is the second session.
Spending time with these amazing women and learning together how they can start their own businesses is one of the things that make me joyful. When I was introduced to become the project coordinator in Nakivale, my heart told me that I really wanted to do this as I have always wanted to do things in line with contributing or supporting my fellow women.
My favorite part during this specific workshop was when they were in group discussions after looking at everything that was in a room where we were having the workshop from and listed businesses out of them and came up with twenty nine eventually, this obviously showed us that giving these wonderful women space to discover opportunities around them is one way of triggering their mind and empowering them to grab those opportunities and use available resources to actually generate income activities for themselves and their families.
I can’t tell how amazed I am by these 10 women that are benefiting from these sessions; they are hopeful, excited and can’t wait to get small capital to put into action everything they are learning.
