Girl Talk Rwanda is a space of feminist concientization and conversations about envisioning feminist freedom, mainly: what is between us and freedom + how we overcome those obstacles as a collective. It has not been smooth to do feminist organising in a society that is still highly patriarchal and conservative, despite what one might think of a country that has championed economic integration of women but doing this amongst a community of young women who are so fiercely dedicated to the movement has been a bliss both for my own personal feminist growth and my growth as a community organiser.
2020 allowed us to be very present in each other’s organising because of it switching to a more virtual form and interacting with the other GT communities has pushed me to reflect a lot on the current state of feminist organising in my community and it has been crucial in laying the vision for where I want the GT Rwanda community to go.
Moving forward, I encourage you all to be a part of this amazing community where we learn, unlearn and grow together.
